Abstract
To resolve the current drawbacks of the construction of space information systems (SISs), the concept of software-defined satellite (SDS) is proposed in this paper with detailed discussion of the payload of SDS, the architecture of which is based on the software-defined radio technology. Top-level design issues of SDS based integrated SIS (SDS-BI-SIS) are discussed and new features provided by the SDS-BI-SIS are also given.
