Abstract :
In medical image processing, it is desirable to extract interested regions from images for reconstructing 3-dimensional structures. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm called the three dimensional clumsy painter method for extracting brain tissues from MRI with the 3-dimensional translation rule and the gray scale translation condition. As a result, it is shown that the new method exhibits higher performance on removing uninterested regions than the conventional method, such as morphological filterings
