Abstract
Lithium ion batteries are currently being produced for consumer electronic products such as camcorders, cellular phones, and laptop computers. Performance evaluation of commercial lithium ion cells was carried out to explore their suitable application in space programs. A number of performance tests were conducted to characterize the performance of Sanyo 18650 lithium ion rechargeable cells. The result data provides information on the rate capability, cycle life, temperature capability and effective internal resistance of the cells tested
