  • Abstract
    A system able to simplify and to provide the automatic analysis of diabetic retinopathy is presented. The system stores and classifies the images of diabetic retinopathy allowing image filtering and pattern recognition, using classical A.I. methodology combined with neural networks. The system has a simple, friendly but powerful interface supporting the medical personnel in the diagnostic process. To automate this process is particularly important for the large number of patients and the frequency of analysis necessary for following the evolution of the pathology. The developed system is actually functioning at the Reference Regional Centre for Diabetes Mellitus of Tuscany in Italy
