Abstract
A novel modified patch structure is proposed in which the resonant length of the patch can be reduced to almost one sixth of the wavelength that is one third of the length of a conventional microstrip patch. The theoretical basis of the new design is detailed and experimental results are presented and compared with the theoretical predictions.
