Abstract
An improved nickel/nickel-oxide electrode has been developed for use in alkaline rechargeable batteries such as nickel-metal hydride, nickel-cadmium and nickel-hydrogen. Processes have been developed in which zinc-oxides and hydroxides and/or other metal-oxide/hydroxide additives can be electrochemically deposited in the nickel electrode. These additives improve electrode performance by reducing electrode swelling and improving the electrochemical utilization of the active material. This results in higher performance and extended cycle life at the cell and battery level
