Abstract
In this contribution a novel structure is proposed for the design of dual-band power amplifiers (DBPA). The structure, composed by lumped and distributed elements, allows the synthesis of the required loads at two fundamental frequencies and at the corresponding second and third harmonics. The DBPA design problem is worked out through the synthesis of the matching networks, yielding the required source and load impedances, so that the desired PAE and output power can be achieved at the two fixed fundamental frequencies. To verify the proposed structure a DBPA test vehicle, operating at 2.5 and 3.5GHz, was designed and its performances are reported.
