Abstract
Without changing the structure of two-stroke gasoline engine, some blended fuels of different ratios of ethanol and gasoline are used for experimental study of the engine. The effects of different ratios of mixed fuel on the characteristics of the engine, i.e. the output torque, power, fuel consumption rate of the engine, and its exhaust are tested. Experimental results and theoretical analysis prove that the power and fuel economical efficiency of the engine is enhanced when it is supplied with the mixture of ethanol and gasoline. When the content of ethanol is 10%, the engine´s torque and power are the maximum; and the engine´s fuel consumption rate is the minimum when the ethanol content is 20%. At the same time, the concentration of HC and CO in the exhaust of the engine is also reduced. The alternative fuel ethanol shows very promising results with respect to efficiency and exhaust of the engine.
