Abstract
As a result of the change in the theatre of operation of the UK military forces (namely, the South Atlantic, the Persian Gulf etc.) and the increased sophistication of Weapon Platforms, Systems and Avionics, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) have identified a need for support systems which have both a low procurement cost and a low lifecycle cost. The support systems must be capable of being easily deployed to the required operating area and be simple to operate.
