Abstract :
Summary form only given. As the year 2005 approaches, organizations are responding to changes in the business environment. Flattened and devoid of middle management, new structures must be put in place to communicate the vision of top management. The urgent need to provide customer satisfaction in the flattened structure will also impact the organization. New business partnering and strategic organization alignment will also require new ways of arranging organizations. These new ways of conducting business, especially in technological companies, will require many more leaders rather than managers. The author examine whether the structure of an organization can increase the number of leaders and set the stage for improved productivity
