Abstract
This paper describes the design and implementations of a gateway that maps interactions between management applications developed using RPC/IDL to agents developed using CMIP/GDMO. In order to match both technologies, several mechanisms are necessary, and we show how to combine them in a coherent module. Most of these components can be generated by automated tools. For performing the necessary conversion, rules for mapping the information exchanged between domains are necessary. This paper also introduce the rules we used for building our gateway. Particularly, we demonstrate its use in a study for the integration of distributed management applications, developed over the OSF/DCE distribution platform, accessing management information on OSI managed objects, through the HP OpenView management platform
