  • Abstract
We can use the Network Management Model of network, application/data, and presentation to organize the opportunities for application integration. As an important aside HP does not see that the same software technology needs to be used at every layer. The network layer can be built on SNMP or CMIP protocols taking advantage of the standardized network element models. The application/data layer may use CORBA to gain the benefits of ease of distribution. The presentation layer may want to use a web based technology, such as Java, to enable a high level of platform independence. The paper talks about some specific examples and how common services can enhance multiple application integration
