Abstract
Performance of computer hardware is often the key to the effectiveness of an entire system of hardware and software. Although the problem of assessing the overall performance of a computing system is still somewhat intractable, much can be gained from efforts at measuring and evaluating various aspects of the internal activities of a computing system. This paper reviews different metrics used to measure performance and analyses the major factors that influence the performance of a computer.
