Abstract
Information system development (ISD) methodologies are generally lacking in serious attention to human activity. They focus more on implementation of a software product than on the development of the activity itself. In this paper the theoretical foundations for a new developmental method, a design game, are introduced. The approach is based on a research tradition which has been focusing on the representation and evaluation of ISs in use. The game will integrate the representation and analysis of existing division of labour into the reconstruction of it. Furthermore, the division of labour which is realised at the level of society can also be realised at the surface
