Abstract :
We show how polarization analysis may improve the robustness of a depth imaging system. We demonstrate that analysis of the polarization properties of the reflected signal is an effective method to distinguish the true reflection. We restrict our treatment to metallic surfaces, since these are the most common source of problems in depth measurement. The method is incomplete, as we have shown only how this can be applied in particular, constrained situations
