Abstract
In the standard design of a phased array antenna for mobile satellite communications, the cost of the array is prohibitive due to the use of expensive antenna elements and phase shifters. In this paper, low cost substrates for antenna elements and low cost diodes are used to build a good quality phased array. Special compensation techniques are applied to low-cost, low-quality diodes to improve their switching performance
