Abstract :
In this paper, the disadvantage of using traditional histogram equalization for infrared image enhancement is discussed. Then by analyzing the human visual responds to the logarithm of image lightness, a modified method of histogram equalization algorithm is proposed based on the visual characteristic. The method can improve the displaying ability of image details through adjusting the pixel contrast which is out of vision. Using the method to enhance infrared image, which proves the effect of the modified method.
