Abstract :
A low complexity wave beam control system for VM-based Phased Array Antenna was presented, which is capable of realizing real-time wide angle scanning. To decrease interface No. 2-stage layered system were adopted, all the necessary control data were generated in main board, then these datum were transmitted into several sub-board via high-speed Link bus, and further distributed into each antenna T/R component. Whole system processing core is Stratix II EP2S30 FPGA of Altera Corp. Maximum frequency achieved 168.56 MHz, while for current design, 80MHz work clock frequency is sufficient to attain real-time wave beam control, about 9334 ALUTs were employed in main board FPGA. Sub-board only completed data distributing via simple CPLD. This system has been verified on certain radar platform, so that proved its reliability and validity.
