Abstract :
This paper describes several case studies of automotive engineering problems that Jaguar have approached using a methodology called knowledge-based engineering. This technique involves capturing the design and manufacturing knowledge that defines a particular process and expressing this in a high level computer based design language. Product designs and configurations are generated automatically by specifying the functional requirements and external constraints
