Abstract
A novel method of planting radioactive seeds into the prostate, for conformal therapy of prostatic cancer, using a robotic platform is described. The robotised procedure leads to a more accurate and convenient way of delivering radioactive seeds. This can result in improved clinical outcome, reduced side effects, reduced surgeon skills and procedural (hence radioactive exposure) time. The robotic platform is a modular one, capable of two procedures-TURP (transurethral resection of the prostate) and transperineal radioactive seed implantation (TRSI)
