Abstract
Matched illumination based on a priori information about the target and clutter offers great advantages when we are dealing with a clutter background such as the wind driven sea surface where powerful models are developed. Wakes from ships (internal waves and Kelvin waves) are well understood. Signal processing schemes involving frequency diversity and space dispersity further enhance the signal to clutter ratio
