Abstract
In this paper, we propose a new channel access mechanism for effective transmission of signal and data in the IMT-2000 W-CDMA system proposed by NTT DoCoMo. In the proposed mechanism, the base station broadcasts channel status information to prevent the mobile station from unnecessary transmission collision. That is, the proposed mechanism uses the competition mechanism for the transmission of first radio frame and utilizes the reservation mechanism for the transmission of other following continuous radio frame. According to the performance analysis, the proposed mechanism has better performance than slotted-ALOHA because of using contention and reservation in the case where signal and data messages are transmitted
