  • Abstract
An ordinary resonant converter usually invokes higher stress on the main switch and a longer resonant period, resulting in higher conduction losses and poor regulation capabilities. In this paper, the mechanism of creating soft-switching conditions for the main switch in a resonant converter has been studied. A new strategy of introducing resonance, inverted-phase resonance, is proposed. The concept of inverted-phase resonance implies minimized stresses on the main switch and reduced resonant period of a PWM resonant converter, promising better regulation capabilities and higher efficiency of power conversion, thus it allows converter operation at high switching-frequency
