Abstract
This paper presents a method for improving the torque ripple in permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives under direct torque control (DTC) using a fuzzy logic controller (FLC). A DTC PMSM drive using conventional two and three states of torque error, and a FLC were simulated using the SimuLink package. The results showed that the DTC/FLC gives a better dynamic performance, regarding torque and flux ripples, and speed performance when compared with the conventional DTC that has two and three-level hysteresis torque controllers.
