Abstract :
In 1987, a change was made in the National Electric Code method of calculating the ampacity rating of power conductors. A tutorial on the revised method, including the new tables to be used, is presented. The tutorial covers the history of ampacity calculation, demonstrates and explains the use of the Neher-McGrath method, and answers the fallacious objections that have been put forth regarding the method
