Broadly defined, software piracy is the unauthorized copying or use of a computer program in any manner other than that which is permitted by copyright law or by the author, as stated in the applicable license agreement. Those pirating software, including end-users, dealers, mail-order houses, and counterfeiters, cause serious problems for the ongoing success of the software industry. And software piracy is illegal
