Abstract

This paper describes the realization of the VSB modulation subsystem of the VSB-based HDTV terrestrial broadcasting system, which is part of China´s HDTV development project. It gives an overview of the system requirements, as well as some basic considerations of the hardware implementation. Algorithms, and architectures of the main modules, such as the modulator, the carrier phase tracking loop, and the timing recovery loop, are presented, and the implementation results and features are also described
