Abstract
In this paper a half mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) H-plane horn antenna is proposed. A probe is used as the feed line of the antenna in order to avoid parasitic radiation and to reduce conductor loss. The proposed antenna is numerically investigated using HFSS software. Radiation properties of the proposed antenna including reflection coefficient and radiation patterns are reported. The obtained results are compared with numerical ones obtained for a substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) H-plane horn antenna. Results illustrate that radiation characteristics of the proposed HMSIW horn antenna and SIW horn are in good agreement while size of the proposed HMSIW antenna is around 67% of the SIW horn antenna size.
