Abstract
This paper provides design, simulation and characterization of a planar metamaterial absorber with a complete impassibility to the incident wave polarization. This structure consists of a lossy dielectric layer of FR4 and an electric-field-coupled (ELC) structure on its top surface. This absorber structure has shown almost complete absorption at the frequency of 10.35 GHz more than 99% with a full width at half maximum bandwidth of about 5% that in compared with similar planar absorber structures have a good improvement. Furthermore, our design has smaller unit cell size than the earlier similar structures. In addition, the proposed structure has shown a broad angular bandwidth from 0° to 64° with more than 90% absorption peak.
