Abstract :
This paper deals with a design and simulation of UPFC (unified power flow controller) to control both a transmitted active power and a reactive power flow on the transmission line. The UPFC consists of a combination of a series inverter and a shunt inverter, a DC-link capacitor. The series inverter controls an active power and reactive flow at the transmission line and the shunt inverter controls an input line voltage and a DC-link voltage. Most of the paper with an analysis and a control of UPFC were based on a synchronous reference frame conversion. The synchronous reference frame conversion needs to obtain rotation information and the most general method is a PLL (phase locked loop). In this paper, an analysis and a control of UPFC is based on not a synchronous reference frame but the stationary reference frame. By doing this, a phase locked loop circuit does not need the proposed control algorithm and the computation becomes simple. Simulation results show a viability and effectiveness of the proposed control scheme
