Abstract
Based on Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT), the authors propose a practical method to extract time-varying oscillation characteristic of power system from the data measured by wide area measurement system (WAMs). The proposed method can analyze local dynamic behavior and characteristics of non-stationary nonlinear signals, better reflect the time-varying law of multi modes involved in oscillation process as well as the mutual influences among these modes, and improve the identification ability and processing effect. Preliminary experimental results of Guizhou Power Grid in China validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
