Abstract
A novel formulation of finite element-integral equation method is proposed for electromagnetic scattering problem in open region. This approach allows for a surface terminated very closely to the scatterer, resulting in decrease of the resultant matrix size. Moreover, by employing a new integral approach, the numerical efficiency is enhanced. Solutions for scattering of some two-dimensional conducting cylinders by this method are obtained and compared with the solutions of other methods and/or measured data
