Abstract
Before zigbee most of the wireless protocols and standards were develop for high date rate and higher bandwidth and there were no considerations on the power consumption as the application needed to support longer distances and speed but this kind of technology was not efficient when the data which needed to be transmitted was of very small size and the distance was also not very large. One solution could have been the use of Bluetooth but because of its greater joining time and more power consumption as compared with zigbee it was not suitable. We will use zigbee modules for transmitting data between two cell phones that are presently located in a pan that will eliminate the use of GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) provider and hence cut the cost that is associated with it.
