Abstract
There´re more than 200 representative buildings built in the period of Republic of China in Nanjing, which are the important material and cultural witness to the former history. But such buildings were built and designed in the so early time from 1912 to 1949 that there´re no seismic design and earthquake-resistant constructional measures in them. Today, under the more frequent earthquake, the above deficiencies have been the serious hidden danger for structural safety. In this article, based on a set of actual project data, the difference on the seismic inspection and evaluation between ordinary buildings and the buildings built during the period of Republic of China and the issues which need intensive consideration are analyzed carefully. Finally, some conclusions and suggestions are given on how to identify the seismic performance of Republic buildings reasonably.
