Abstract :
Accurate modeling of TWTs which operate over a frequency range in excess of one octave present particular challenges when attempting to reproduce or predict measured data for both small signal and saturated gain as well as saturated power across the frequency band. The most difficult performance to predict of these wideband TWTs has proven to be the high band-edge power and gain, which often can be in error by many dB when compared to actual device operation. In this paper, we investigate various effects which result in high-band-edge modeling errors and compare computed results to experimental TWT data of an L-3 X-Ku band TWT.
