Abstract :
Photothermal radiometry is potentially attractive for measurements on live bio-tissue, because it is non-invasive, depth-profiling and has spectroscopic capabilities. The talk will start with an introduction to the technique, followed by examples of measurements, including epidermis thickness, stratum corneum hydration and the diffusion of topically applied substances through skin. This is followed by a look to the future, with developments such as high resolution mid-infrared spectroscopy and time-domain opto-thermal imaging
