Summary form only given. This paper describes a bandwidth extension requirement that was made for an operational 250 kW CW klystron which operates in the X-band at 8.560 GHz with a -1 dB 20 MHz band pass. A further requirement was that the group delay of each tube manufactured had to match a given reference response.
