Abstract
The paper first reviews the development of access switch architecture and the ASIC oriented architecture of access switches in detail. Based on the fast development of processor technology, we propose a scalable architecture of access switch and present a prototype LT-30 ATM access switch. In order to verify the correctness of the scalable architecture of the access switch, we have made some performance tests on the LT-30 switch. Lastly the performance test results are reported
