Abstract :
Summary form only given. This paper describes a miniature, low voltage, vacuum TWT designed to operate in the 18-40 GHz. (Ka-band) at a minimum of 20 W (CW power). The TWT is light-weight and compact, weighing less than a pound and measuring approximately 6 inches in length. Current Ka-band units have been built which produce 80 W maximum and 32 W minimum (CW power) at 24 GHz and 40 GHz, respectively. Efforts are continuing to reliably extend low end performance to 18 GHz.
