The needs of European information infrastructure standards

European collaborative research is essential to support the needs of future standards for the EII. However, to gain maximum pay-back in terms of benefit to European industry, this research must be coordinated with initiatives such as the EPII through the ICTSB. It must be carefully targeted at areas likely to meet the needs ofthe EII, so that services such as Electronic Commerce and Information Services can be provided early in Europe.
