Abstract
A horizontally-oriented study of creativity/innovation for the IS discipline was begun in 1988 by the Center for Research on Creativity and Innovation at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Since little research had been conducted on the subject of creativity in the IS field prior to that time, the research structure provided a way to cover the broad subject in a comprehensive manner in a relatively short time. The horizontal-oriented structure chosen was the 4-P´s model of creativity: person, process, product and press (environment). Results of five seminal papers in those four components are summarized. The author then draws some conclusions that would not have been possible if the research had not be conducted in the horizontally-oriented framework-showing the value of an integrated, trans-discipline approach to research
