Abstract :
Many carrier grade applications require a high availability platform, such as telecommunication systems, nuclear power plants, rockets. A high availability platform can provide reliability, security, upgradeability, scalability and other capabilities to the applications. This paper introduces the key issues when designing a high availability platform, fault prediction, hardware redundancy and fault management, which can be used as the guideline in the design of similar platforms.
