  • Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT) and it´s applications are considered as one of the pillars of the Future Internet. One of the main concepts behind IoT is Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication. This paper presents a possible way to design and implement communication and processing in Machine-to-Machine environment. The proposed approach is the result of experience acquired in designing applications for home networks area being a part of the Future Internet Engineering (FIE) project. Two applications described in the paper use Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) for communication and Complex Event Processing (CEP) for handling data streams.
