Abstract
With state of the art electronic components it seems possible that a digitally synthesised AC voltage standard can be constructed with uncertainties comparable with the best multi-junction thermal converters. Future work at NPL aims to improve uncertainties to a target of 0.1. p.p.m. over an increased voltage and frequency range. The prospect of traceable non-sinusoidal waveforms is also being investigated. It is envisaged that this technology will be used to improve traceability for harmonic and `power´ analysers as well as arbitrary waveform generators
