Abstract :
The present study is a continuation of previous work (Krishan et al., 1991) on the vaporization of single water droplets in a fire plume which come out from sprinkler systems during fires. In the present work, a simplified model has been selected for gas-phase analysis and the droplet-droplet interaction effect has been included by including its effect through the drag co-efficient on the downstream droplet, to solve this complex problem of spray vaporization. The results of this simplified model have been compared with the results of detailed calculations done earlier (Krishan et al., 1991). The comparision shows that the earlier model predicts higher values for the vaporization rates and lower values for the velocities and the consequent penetration into the fire plume
