Abstract
Recently, the Chinese economy has developed quickly, following which is the remarkable increase of urban construction amount, and therefore, urban regeneration is inevitable. However, it is a pity that quite a lot of urban zone after regeneration lose its original urban features and historic culture. At the same time, the inappropriate design caused unnecessary waste. This text will discuss the methods of urban regeneration and try to provide a view for the city´s historic continuing and development in such a category from a new point of view- Urban Memory and Locale Spirit Theory. We choose the most representative urban reserve in Guangzhou-Chang Hua Community ( a Garden Vila residential area in modern times in Guangzhou) to carry on on-spot survey and research, put forward solutions to the existing problems of Chang Hua Community with the Urban Memory and Locale Spirit Theory, and analyze some existing problems in cities from a more immanent and deeper structure. We hope that we can find out some guiding rules for urban regeneration beneficial to continue the city´s history and culture and maintain the features of urban blocks.
