Abstract
The investigation on sheet beam electron optics system has been the bottle-neck techniques for the development of sheet beam klystron (SBK). In this paper, the new type of sheet beam electron gun and its electron optics system with high transmission rate for the W-band sheet beam klystron has been developed in IECAS. The electron gun with the ellipse cathode and focusing electrode are designed in detail, which has the beam aspect ratio about 25:1 after one dimension compression. The uniform magnetic focusing scheme is used for the sheet electron beam transformation. With the beam voltage of 20-82 kV ,and beam current of 0.5-4.2A, the experimental transmission rate of sheet beam electron tube manufactured is more than 98% with the drift length 100mm, which is more appropriate to use in the WSBK soon.
