Re-engineering of company processes and the benefits

The author argues that a contributing element to the UK manufacturing base recovery can be provided if a smart design capability is adopted, integrated with lean manufacturing. Previous papers have adequately narrated the need for streamlining of the product evolutionary process from concept to product delivery. They have also provided some interesting and encouraging statistics on the benefits they have achieved. These are not isolated instances but are representative of improvement in performance experienced by a growing number of companies now better able to compete successfully in the market place
