Abstract :
A Single Bridge Resonator (SBR) concept has been previously proposed. This quartz resonator is designed as an element of a 10 MHz ovenized oscillator, the power consumption of which is limited at 200 mW over the operating range [-20°C, +70° C] while its warm-up time is less than 3 minutes at +20°C. The results obtained from the first prototype revealed some weaknesses. This paper provides a brief review of its main features and gives also a presentation of a new device attempting to correct the defaults of the first one. Three essential changes have been decided in order to achieve a better temperature control and to decrease the thermal gradients and their effect upon frequency. After the required coverage of these topics, we comment on the experimental results obtained from the modified prototype. The emphasis is still essentially placed on the thermal behavior of the S.B.R.: warm-up time, power consumption, frequency stability over the operating temperature range
