Abstract
Efficient algorithms are presented for implementing the multi-band harmonic vocoder in the frequency domain for speech data compression. The methods developed for analysis, accurately extracts the basic information from the original speech waveform to recreate its frequency spectrum. A simplified scheme for estimating the initial phase is also used to further improve the quality of the decoded speech
